Success Stories

Just a few of our many successfully adopted rescues at TBC.

MAURICE BRIAN

Maurice was returned to TBC following the tragic and sudden passing of his buddy Brian Roberts, (Brian was a Co-Founder of TBC & a former board member). When I saw a picture of Maurice at a TBC fundraiser I fell in love with him, and had to meet him. I needed a therapy dog for some of my disabilities and when I found out that he could be trained for me the rest was history! I heard the story about Maurice losing his buddy Brian, and decided to give Maurice “Brian” as his middle name. Maurice Brian Is an amazing dog he loves me so much and is there for me when I'm up and when I have my lows. He travels with me and my Aide to doctors appointments, shopping etc. But when I have to go outside for something where I cannot take him and I come back in he greets me with so much love and happy kisses! We love each other so much I'm glad he's in my life I made a great move by adopting him! He has several nicknames, “Monkey-Butt”, “Chunk-A-Monk”, “Turtle Boy” and more. I heard how when Brian was alive how many people he helped and protected; well Brian’s little buddy is now doing that for me. Thank you TBC for Maurice Brian!

Dora, Teddy, & Harley

My name is Christina and I have had the honor of spending the last year with my amazing dog, Teddy. Teddy came to me through a friend’s suggestion & TBC. I had lost my Maggie to cancer in 2018, my son to a motorcycle accident April 2019, and then Bella, my amazing white boxer to kidney failure February 2020. It was the first time I had no one or nothing to care for. I felt empty, alone and numb. So much hurt in a short period of time. I decided to dog sit, but my need just was not fulfilled. I decided to fill that desire by looking through a rescue to fill my need. I found Teddy. He had been abused and adopted three other times without success. I could not fathom why. I will admit, the first month was challenging, but this was a dog that had seen so much hurt, but had so much love. Teddy has created a special place in my heart. He is loving, affectionate, plays well with others, and has become my emotional support dog.

But soon I wanted another so I went back to TBC, and adopted Harley. Harley is full of spunk and such a knucklehead, but in a good way. He is full of energy and of course I am boxer breed fan. So many personalities from both Teddy & Harley. You have to know the breed and take the time to develop that bond; and when you do it’s forever. I have had Harley for about 8 months now, so full of spit & vinegar.

Lastly, but certainly not least, Dora. Dora was a foster for me. She is so sweet, and was abused to the point that I never thought an animal would be so kind and trusting of any human again. She is older, and has some health issues, but I wanted her to go to a good home. She had been adopted and by no fault of her own had to be returned to TBC, this is how she came to me. I only had Dora for a few weeks and fell in love with her and asked to keep her too. They all get along together pretty well, not saying we don’t have our days. I take them for daily walks in the Spring & Summer we walk along the creek. They are all well behaved, enjoy rides in the car, and have filled my heart with so much love that was missing since my son’s death. It has been said that humans can learn a lot from animals, this is a fact. Just look at my family now! Thank you TBC for all three of my babies, they are the best!

BABE

Four years ago I was scrolling through Facebook when I saw a post with a dog tied to a tree. It said that this poor innocent dog had been living outside tied to a tree for most of her life. She looked awful, miserable and even a little scary looking. Something told me that this was my dog. The post led me to TBC who got Babe from rescued from the tree, and found her a temporary foster; and even had her groomed and ready for my husband and I to do a meet & greet with her. My husband and I drove 5 hours to pick her up and bring her home. She would never be cold, hungry, thristy, or tied anywhere again! She loved everything about being with us! She loved the cats, the foster kittens, my grumpy old chihuahua and most all me! She loved being outside in the yard, multiple doggie beds to chose from, my bed, couch, toys galore and lots of love, affection and of course treats. She was my girl and was by side no matter what. She truly showed me what unconditional love is; and was so loyal to me. She was the best dog I’ve ever had, and I only have TBC to thank for that. Thank you TBC for connecting Babe and I. A true soul mate and my best friend.

Buddy

We adopted Buddy about three years ago & I couldn’t imagine my life without him. Buddy has been a blessing for our family and each of us have been a blessing for him. I couldn’t be more grateful to Teddy Bear Care for entrusting us to foster Buddy. We soon realized we wanted to be his forever family so we adopted him. Buddy was a little on the shy side & he didn’t like to be around a large group. He wasn’t fond of loud noises, like many doggos. My family went through some therapy with him. Now he can go to large gatherings & he enjoys walks in the park . Buddy loves to be around his two human sisters & will peak his head in their bedrooms to check on them. When the bedroom door is closed he will put his head against the door to nudge it. This absolutely melts my heart. There have been times when I felt Buddy was more excited to see me after a long day at work than anybody else. Buddy has changed our lives in such a positive way; he simply isn’t an ordinary dog, he is a member of our family. Since Buddy’s adoption he has gained a few more family members; another dad, a sister Dori; & a fat cat brother named Bubba. Thank you Teddy Beary Care!

Solo

Solo was hit by a car with his Mother who sadly did not survive the incident. Two women found him & brought him to one of the veterinarian clinics which Teddy Bear Care works with at only about five weeks of age. TBC was called to see if they could help improve his situation as the vet clinic was not prepared to handle the full extent of his injuries. Solo was then sent to WACC, where the famous Teddy was also seen for his issues. Solo’s left wrist was broken in six places & could not be saved. TBC then raised the necessary funds to get Solo the operations he needed performed & Donna Roberts, one of the Founders of TBC, fostered him during his recovery. She fell in love & was later approved to adopt him, paying all adoption fees. Solo was named for his one remaining front arm & the TV show The Man from U.N.C.L.E. - Napoleon Solo. Just like the character from the show Solo is a survivor from death defying situations. Because he’s disabled he gets plenty of extra attention & care. Solo brings lots of laughter & joy into the lives around him. Who knows what would have become of young Solo if it weren't for Teddy Bear Care giving him every opportunity at a new life.

Hagrid

When I adopted Hagrid I hadn’t planned to get another dog so soon after Tater my old English bulldog passed. I happened to see a friend’s post on Facebook for Teddy Bear Care. My other dog was elderly & I noticed her demeanor changed after losing her pal so maybe she could use some company while I’m at work. I went to TBC’s FB Page where I saw Hagrid’s photo & decided to meet him. When I saw Hagrid for the first time I thought he had the most soulful eyes I’ve ever seen & had to bring him into the loving home he deserved. Before TBC, Hagrid was an outside dog who hadn’t received much attention & didn’t know how to play. We had the pleasure of watching this gentle giant learn to play & become an amazing companion. He immediately took to my elderly dog, walked gingerly around her & protected her. After she passed we knew Hagrid would need a friend. We got a puppy & to our amazement we watched Hagrid continue to grow as the loving attentive dog we adore. We're grateful to have him in our life. Adopting a rescue was the best decision & I encourage anyone looking to adopt with unconditional love to give to get a rescue. Thank you Teddy Bear Care for Hagrid!
